The outcome of the first Strictly Come Dancing 2026 elimination leaked online via a dedicated spoiler website on October 4, 2026. This leak happened just hours before the pre-recorded results show was scheduled to air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
The popular BBC dance competition records its Sunday evening results broadcast immediately after the live Saturday night show. This quick turnaround allows internet spoilers to discover and publish the identity of the departing celebrity and professional dancer early.
History of the Strictly Spoiler and Show Reactions
A specialized spoiler website has published the names of eliminated couples every Saturday night since 2012. This practice has long faced criticism from show insiders and judges. Most notably, Anton Du Beke has publicly stated that the leaks ruin the viewing experience and suspense for loyal fans.
Despite network efforts to maintain secrecy, the 2026 series suffered its first breach when an insider posted exact details of the elimination outcome to the spoiler site. Following the leak, fans voiced mixed reactions on X, formerly known as Twitter. Many viewers described themselves as devastated and surprised by the reported results.
Leaderboard Standings and Personal Announcements
The elimination leak arrived after a competitive weekend of routines. During Saturday night’s broadcast, Gavin and Stacey star Melanie Walters found herself positioned at the bottom of the leaderboard. This came after judges expressed disappointment with her opening performances.
Conversely, singer Delta Goodrem and her professional dance partner Kai Widdrington secured a strong position near the top of the leaderboard. They established themselves as early fan favorites following the series launch one week prior.
The live show also featured a major personal announcement from contestant John Nellis. Before stepping onto the dancefloor for his Movie Week routine alongside partner Katya Jones, Nellis shared with hosts and viewers that he and his wife Shannon are expecting their next child in February.
Reflecting on his time away from home, Nellis told viewers: "The hardest part of my job, and it genuinely breaks my heart, is the amount of time I spend away from family. I miss my wife more than you can imagine, and my son. And our family is growing. We’re having another baby in February."
The official elimination results air for the wider public on Sunday evening across BBC One and BBC iPlayer. This broadcast will confirm whether the widely circulated internet reports match the final television broadcast.
