Two 20-year-old men were wounded Sunday night inside a Wawa store in Sicklerville, New Jersey. The Winslow Township Police Department reported that a verbal dispute escalated into gunfire.
Authorities stated the shooting happened shortly after 9 p.m. at the convenience store on the 400 block of Sicklerville Road.
Investigators said between five and 10 customers and at least three employees were inside when the argument turned physical and verbal. Patrons fled the area as the situation intensified before shots rang out. Law enforcement confirmed that no employees or bystanders sustained physical injuries.
Response and Hospital Transport
Officers arrived at the scene and found one 20-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel transported him to Cooper University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office stated that a second 20-year-old man sought independent medical treatment at Jefferson Washington Township Hospital in Sewell, about seven miles away. He was later transferred to Cooper University Hospital.
Ongoing Police Investigation
The Winslow Township Police Department and the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office are reviewing surveillance footage and gathering evidence. The store closed overnight for cleaning and reopened by approximately 6 a.m. on Monday.
Authorities have not released the identities of the victims, detailed a motive, or announced any arrests. Police emphasized that there is no active threat to the general public and that all individuals believed to be involved have been identified.
