Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B proved that superstar status does not exempt anyone from family responsibilities. Footage surfaced showing her sweeping and scrubbing floors at her grandparents’ home. The candid videos went viral across social media on October 12, 2026. They captured the hip-hop icon during a family visit to Castañuelas in the Montecristi province of the Dominican Republic.
The unexpected cleaning session took place surrounding her 34th birthday on October 11, 2026. Rather than lounging or receiving VIP treatment during her Caribbean getaway, the “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker traded designer clothing for casual wear. She put on sandals and actively pitched in with everyday household chores.
Viral Video Shows Cardi B Cleaning Family Home
The footage was originally shared on social media by the rapper’s father, Carlos Almánzar, who is affectionately known to fans as Papa Bardi. In the videos, Cardi B uses a broom, a scrubbing brush, and water to wash down the surfaces of the family’s property. Other relatives, including her mother, helped lift furniture and move chairs onto a table to protect them as the floors were hosed down.
The humble display quickly resonated with fans worldwide, drawing millions of views and humorous reactions online. Social media users flooded comment sections with jokes about how family hierarchy applies even to international celebrities.
“Cardi B is a celebrity everywhere else, but at Grandpa’s house, she’s just another member of the family who has chores to do!” one fan wrote on social media.
Other users praised the star for remaining deeply connected to her roots. They noted that pitching in with cleaning and household duties is a familiar, relatable experience for many Caribbean and Latino families.
A Meaningful Birthday and Family Gathering
The trip to the Dominican Republic served as both a birthday celebration and a time for family unity during a bittersweet period. According to local reports from outlets like Diario Libre and Telemundo, the rapper traveled to the country following the recent death of her paternal grandfather. She attended funeral services alongside her relatives over the weekend.
Despite the somber occasion, family members also gathered to celebrate her 34th birthday in an intimate setting. They shared a cake and sang to her away from the spotlight of major Hollywood events.
Embracing Dominican Heritage
Born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar in New York City, Cardi B has consistently maintained a strong connection to her heritage. Her father is Dominican, and her mother has Trinidadian roots. Throughout her career, she has frequently incorporated Spanish expressions, Dominican culture, and visits to her family’s homeland into her public life.
This is not the first time members of Cardi’s household have worked during a family trip. In July 2025, her eldest daughter, Kulture, also drew attention online after footage showed her helping clean a floor under the watchful eye of her great-grandmother.
