Dinks and Dingers Hosts Breast Cancer Fundraiser in Kentwood

A personal experience with breast cancer is driving an upcoming community fundraiser in Kentwood, Michigan. Dinks and Dingers will host the inaugural Dink Pink Classic, combining sports with a cause to support individuals affected by cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The charity event takes place on Saturday, October 17, at 8 p.m. at Dinks and Dingers, located at 5080 Broadmoor Ave. in Kentwood. Organizers scheduled two distinct competitive tournaments, featuring men’s and women’s divisions in both pickleball and cornhole.

Personal Roots Inspire the Dink Pink Classic

For Dinks and Dingers owner Andy Anderson, the fight against breast cancer hits close to home. The inspiration for the fundraiser came after his wife suffered a broken ankle on a pickleball court. During her recovery, medical evaluations led to a breast cancer diagnosis.

She is currently in remission. The family’s journey inspired a desire to help others facing similar hardships. All proceeds from the Dink Pink Classic will directly benefit Beautiful You by Profile, a local organization that provides wigs to individuals experiencing hair loss from cancer treatments.

Tournament Details and Registration Information

Participants can register ahead of the event. Registration fees are structured affordably to encourage community participation:

  • Pickleball Tournament: $25 per player
  • Cornhole Tournament: $20 per player

The venue will have food and beverages available for purchase on-site throughout the evening. Community members can gather, form teams, and support local cancer survivors by signing up through the official Dinks and Dingers website.

Supporting Cancer Awareness in Greater Grand Rapids

Events like the Dink Pink Classic highlight the growing intersection of community sports and local philanthropy. By utilizing recreational activities like pickleball and cornhole, venues in the Greater Grand Rapids area are finding creative ways to rally public support for critical health initiatives.

Organizers encourage players and spectators to secure their spots early, prepare their tournament brackets, and join the Kentwood community in making a difference for cancer survivors.
