Actor Jeremy Renner and his longtime business partner and fellow actor, Kristoffer Winters, successfully completed one of their most ambitious real estate ventures by selling their historic Holmby Hills estate for $24 million. Originally purchased for $7 million in 2010, the property underwent an extensive, multi-year transformation that turned the two-acre site into a sprawling 10,005-square-foot luxury compound known as The Reserve.
Transforming a 1920s Art Deco Landmark
The high-end property project combined classic 1920s Art Deco architecture with contemporary amenities tailored for ultra-luxury living. Winters collaborated closely with architect Phillip Vertoch to redesign the estate, elevating its historical foundation into a modern showpiece. Public records and real estate reports highlight that the expansive residence features six bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, five fireplaces, a custom wine cellar, and a private home theater.
Set behind secure gates with a private cobblestone driveway, the two-acre grounds offer complete seclusion within the elite Los Angeles neighborhood. Exterior features include a resort-style swimming pool and spa, manicured landscaping, and expansive outdoor entertaining spaces. According to initial listings, the estate was sold fully furnished, described as “toothbrush ready,” and included custom touches such as a fully stocked bar and specialized linens.
A Lucrative Real Estate Flip
The $24 million sale price-just shy of its initial $24.95 million asking price-delivered a $17 million increase over the original purchase price. Rayni Romito and Branden Williams of Hilton & Hyland (affiliated with Christie’s International Real Estate) served as the listing agents for the property. Meanwhile, Barry Peele and Andrew Clark of Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyer.
While initial reports linked British luxury property developer Nick Candy to the purchase, subsequent public corrections clarified that the Holmby Hills estate was acquired by his brother, Christian Candy. The transaction underscores the strong demand for meticulously restored historic properties within prime Southern California real estate markets.
A Long History of High-End Property Renovations
Renner and Winters have built a strong reputation as high-end property flippers, having bought, renovated, and sold more than 15 luxury homes across the Los Angeles area since 2002. Their renovation projects have consistently scaled in size and architectural ambition, with The Reserve standing as a pinnacle of their real estate portfolio.
Alongside his successful career in real estate development, Renner has maintained a prominent acting career, earning Academy Award nominations for his work in The Hurt Locker (2008) and The Town (2010), alongside starring roles in major blockbuster franchises including The Avengers and The Bourne Legacy.
