A 26-year-old man has been formally charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of Alisha Samuels in the Newton Heath area of Manchester. He also faces an attempted murder charge stemming from the same violent incident. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that Lawrence Johnson, of Dorking Avenue, has been remanded in custody ahead of a scheduled appearance at Manchester Magistrates’ Court.

Emergency services were called to a disturbance on Dorking Avenue at approximately 2 a.m. on October 15. Upon arrival, officers and paramedics discovered 26-year-old Alisha Samuels suffering from critical stab wounds. Despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The ongoing police investigation also covers the alleged attempted murder of a man during the early morning altercation.

Police Continue Investigation and Appeal for Information

Although a suspect has been charged, detectives emphasize that the investigation remains active as authorities work to piece together the exact sequence of events leading up to the tragedy. Local residents reported hearing shouting and commotion in the street around the time of the fatal disturbance.

Detective Chief Inspector Justin Bryant of Greater Manchester Police addressed the ongoing inquiry. He stated, “We are continuing to work to establish the full circumstances of Alisha’s tragic death and to provide Alisha’s family with some answers. We have now charged a man, but our investigation is not over.”

DCI Bryant expressed gratitude to community members who have already assisted law enforcement. He added, “I’d like to thank those that have called and supported our investigation thus far. Your reports are always taken seriously and prove vital to our work. I urge others who may have information, no matter how small, to please come forward.”
