Sony Pictures officially updated its theatrical release calendar on September 30, 2026. The studio locked in a December 10, 2027, premiere date for the comedy sequel 24 Jump Street. Reports from IGN and Dark Horizons confirm that the film marks the return of the R-rated buddy-cop franchise.

Original lead actors Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are attached to reprise their roles as undercover police officers Jenko and Schmidt. They will be joined by Ice Cube, who returns as Captain Dickson.

Behind the Scenes and Creative Team

Filmmaker Rodney Rothman directs 24 Jump Street. Rothman previously co-wrote 22 Jump Street and co-directed the animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He co-wrote the screenplay alongside original star Jonah Hill and Meghan Malloy.

The core creative team behind the franchise remains involved. Original filmmakers Phil Lord and Chris Miller are attached as producers, collaborating with producer Neal H. Moritz.

Franchise Background and Expectations

The Jump Street franchise revitalized the late-1980s television series into a self-aware comedic film property for Sony Pictures. The first installment in 2012 and its 2014 follow-up, 22 Jump Street, combined critical praise with high box office returns.

With a confirmed release date in late 2027, fans have a concrete timeline for the return of Schmidt and Jenko. Additional casting details and plot specifics will be revealed by Sony Pictures closer to production.
