Swedish rapper Yung Lean teamed up with audiovisual project duo GENER8ION for a high-energy live debut of their collaborative song “STORM” at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 28, 2026. Staged at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, the 30-year-old artist and the French creative duo delivered one of the most talked-about, chaotic sets of the live broadcast.
The sequence started backstage, where Yung Lean smashed a chair onto the ground before walking over to grab a Moonman trophy. He then stepped onto the main stage, paused, and threw the trophy down to shatter it into pieces. Surrounded by a large group of dancers in school uniforms, he walked across the risers as the choreography unfolded.
During the opening moments of the track, one of the performance dancers handed Yung Lean an ice cream cone. He casually ate from it as the music continued, later spitting the blue dessert directly into the camera lens to close out the unique performance.
Behind the “STORM” Collaboration
GENER8ION consists of French electronic music producer Surkin and French director Romain Gavras. The duo teamed up with Yung Lean to helm the viral “STORM” visual, which depicts an intense, gritty British boarding school setting in the year 2034.
The seven-minute short film project arrived on GENER8ION’s Love & Tears album in June and picked up four major nominations at the 2026 VMAs:

- Best Choreography (Damien Jalet)
Although the collaboration did not take home any trophies during the ceremony, the live rendition captured widespread attention online. Earlier in the evening, Yung Lean walked the red carpet alongside his girlfriend, Zoe Bleu Sidel, while Surkin arrived solo before joining up for photos.
Fans praised the immersive performance, which brought the hypnotic, synchronized choreography created by Damien Jalet directly to the award show stage.
