

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Albuquerque police successfully canceled an Amber Alert on October 6 after locating 16-year-old Angeleka Garcia Rodriguez. Authorities reported she was allegedly abducted at gunpoint by her half-brother.
According to the Albuquerque Police Department (APD), the incident began when Rodriguez was taken near Pinon Creek Road, close to Four Hills Road and Central Avenue in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Law enforcement officials later confirmed that the teenager was found safe, bringing a swift end to the statewide emergency alert.
Suspect Identified in Gunpoint Abduction
Investigators identified the alleged abductor as Joshua Garcia, the victim’s half-brother. Before the safe recovery of the teenager, police warned the public that Garcia was wanted on multiple violent felony warrants and was considered armed and dangerous.
During the active search, authorities released descriptions and photographs of both Rodriguez and Garcia. Witnesses and community members were told the pair was last seen traveling in a sport utility vehicle that had been spray-painted black and lacked a license plate.
Community Response and Law Enforcement Action
The rapid mobilization of the Amber Alert system triggered immediate public awareness across the Albuquerque area. APD used local media and emergency broadcasting channels to distribute vehicle descriptions and suspect warnings.
