Nahla Aubry Defends Halle Berry Against Abuse Claims

October 8, 2026 3 min read 0 comments

Halle Berry’s 18-year-old daughter, Nahla Aubry, has publicly defended her mother against child abuse allegations. These claims were filed by the Oscar-winning actress’s ex-husband, Olivier Martinez. In a legal declaration submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court, Nahla firmly disputed claims that her mother was physically abusive toward her 13-year-old half-brother, Maceo.

The family dispute came to light after Martinez filed legal documents alleging that Berry physically attacked Maceo during an incident on September 26. Following the filing, a Los Angeles County judge issued a temporary domestic violence restraining order. This order requires Berry to remain 100 yards away from Martinez until a scheduled follow-up hearing on October 16. Berry has strongly denied all allegations. She characterized herself as a victim of domestic violence and requested the reinstatement of their 2023 joint custody agreement.

Nahla Aubry’s Court Declaration

In her detailed declaration obtained by media outlets, Nahla described Berry as a “loving and devoted parent.” She stated that Berry has always been deeply involved in her children’s lives. Nahla lived with Berry and spent extensive time around her household before moving to Massachusetts for college. She stated that she never observed any abusive behavior.

“I never observed anything abusive about her parenting,” Nahla wrote in the court documents. “I have never seen my mom hit, slap, choke, grab, or physically abuse Maceo in any way. I have never seen my mom place her hands around Maceo’s neck, put him in a chokehold, restrict his breathing, or engage in any conduct remotely resembling the allegations that have been made against her.”

Nahla emphasized that despite her demanding Hollywood career, Berry always prioritized her children. She attended school events, supported their extracurricular activities, and advocated for their education and therapeutic needs. Nahla also noted that her mother consistently encouraged healthy and loving relationships with both of her children’s fathers, Gabriel Aubry and Olivier Martinez.

Halle Berry and Legal Team Respond

Berry’s legal representatives have dismissed Martinez’s court filings as entirely meritless and deliberately misleading. In a statement released through her attorney Marina Beck, the legal team pointed to a history of contentious co-parenting disputes. They noted that Martinez has previously faced legal sanctions for violating court orders regarding therapeutic and educational interventions for Maceo.

In her own legal filings submitted to the court, Berry denied ever harming her son. She also detailed ongoing frustrations regarding co-parenting challenges. The actress asserted that Martinez frequently placed their son in the middle of adult conflicts and resisted essential professional support systems for the boy.

Amid the ongoing legal battle, Berry completed a mandated online parenting program called Our Children First. Both parties are preparing for the upcoming court hearing set for October 16. At this hearing, custody arrangements and the status of the restraining order will be further reviewed by the judge.
