Below Deck Mediterranean star Gael Cameron has opened up about the challenges of raising her infant son, Kayden, while navigating the fallout from her high-profile split and legal battles involving her former partner, Nathan Gallagher. Cameron shared her personal reflections via social media, exactly three days after the conclusion of Season 11 on October 5.
The 30-year-old reality television personality took to Instagram on October 8 to express her gratitude for the overwhelming public support she and her 14-month-old son have received over the past few months. Her statement came shortly after Gallagher was convicted in September on domestic violence charges in Australia, stemming from an alleged physical incident that occurred in December 2025.
Reflecting on Motherhood and Healing in Croatia
During the filming of Below Deck Mediterranean Season 11 in Croatia, Cameron balanced her appearances on the Bravo series with the demanding realities of infant care. Although she was not a primary main cast member during the eleventh season, she featured in multiple episodes. Court and production records show that Cameron and young Kayden stayed in a rental home situated close to the port where Gallagher was working aboard the superyacht Akira One, with the filming taking place prior to his December arrest.
Reflecting on that tumultuous period, Cameron wrote to her followers:
“It’s been a tough season, but I have been using the past few months to quietly heal and rebuild for little man and myself. I really appreciate the love you have sent our way, especially while everything that’s come to light, and I’m really working on finding myself again and moving forward.”
Nathan Gallagher’s Legal Proceedings and Conviction
The legal case against 28-year-old Nathan Gallagher progressed significantly in September. According to New South Wales court documents, Gallagher was scheduled to appear in Burwood Local Court in Sydney on September 1. However, after he failed to appear for the hearing, prosecutors informed Judge Janine Lacy that immigration records indicated the defendant was currently overseas.
As a result of his non-attendance, police prosecutors requested that the magistrate proceed with a conviction in his absence. Burwood Local Court subsequently confirmed that Gallagher was convicted on all three domestic violence charges: assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentionally choking a person without consent, and common assault. A New South Wales Courts representative also confirmed that an arrest warrant has been issued for Gallagher following his failure to appear.
Additionally, court records indicate that Cameron filed an Apprehended Violence Application (AVO) seeking legal protection from Gallagher under Australian law.
Background of the Relationship and Prior Statements
Cameron and Gallagher initially crossed paths in 2024 during Season 9 of Below Deck Mediterranean, where Gallagher was working as a deckhand. Their romance developed on charter before transitioning into a long-term relationship and the birth of their son, Kayden.
Prior to fleeing the country and his subsequent conviction, Gallagher addressed the December 2025 arrest in an interview with Rolling Stone in August. While acknowledging that he made mistakes during the relationship, Gallagher defended his position and claimed he possessed contemporaneous video footage, messages, and other records that he believed would provide additional context regarding the night of the incident.
“My priority is being recognized as his father, establishing a relationship with him and ultimately finding a way for both of us to move forward and coparent peacefully,” Gallagher stated at the time.
Despite the ongoing legal complexities and media scrutiny surrounding the case, Cameron has chosen to center her public statements strictly around her personal healing journey and her devotion to being a mother to young Kayden.
