The three-day celebration began on Thursday, October 8, with a lively welcome party featuring a performance by the Unidos de Vila Isabel samba school. Festivities continued on Friday with a beach volleyball tournament in Ipanema-a nod to traditional Kennedy family gatherings blended with a distinctly Brazilian atmosphere. Later that day, the couple held an intimate religious blessing at the Capela de Nossa Senhora Aparecida, located inside the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue overlooking the city.
On Saturday, October 10, the couple officially exchanged vows during a Catholic ceremony officiated by Father Victor Pimentel Pereira at the historic cathedral of Nossa Senhora do Carmo da Antiga Sé. Following the ceremony, guests gathered for a grand reception at Instituto Brando Barbosa, a colonial mansion situated near Rio’s botanical gardens. The celebration featured a custom-tiered cake, live music, a photo booth, and a tarot reader, lasting late into the night.
A Transcontinental Fashion Affair
The bride’s wedding wardrobe drew international attention, showcasing designs from across the globe. For the welcome party, Giulia wore a custom creation by Spanish fashion label YolanCris, followed by a look from Brazilian designer PatBo. For her blessing at Christ the Redeemer, she wore a minimalist white slip dress by Calvin Klein with sheer opera-length gloves, evoking the timeless elegance of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy.
For the main ceremony, Giulia walked down the aisle in a custom gown created by British designer Harris Reed. The dramatic dress featured long sleeves, a high neck, and French lace from the historic house Solstiss. A Romance That Began Virtually
The couple’s love story began in 2021 after Conor’s sister, Kyra Kennedy, introduced them virtually on Instagram. Following a serious head injury that same year, Conor reached out to check on Giulia, sparking a months-long correspondence via WhatsApp while Giulia filmed a Netflix movie in Brazil and Conor studied in the U.S.
The pair met in person in California in 2022 and became engaged in August 2024 at their Los Angeles home. They previously completed an intimate civil ceremony in Los Angeles in March before heading to South America for their grand Brazilian celebration.
