Eminem Joins Kid Rock on Faith Album Despite Political Divide

A decades-long friendship between Detroit-born music stars Eminem and Kid Rock has drawn renewed public attention. The two artists collaborated on a new faith-based album, bridging a wide political divide. Released on Friday, October 16, 2026, Kid Rock’s album Halfway 2 Jesus features Eminem on the track “Heal My Faith.” This collaboration sparked discussions among fans regarding the rapper’s decision to work with an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump.

Following the album’s release, Eminem addressed the public reaction on social media. He emphasized that the collaboration stemmed from their personal history and longstanding friendship rather than serving as any form of political endorsement. The two musicians have maintained a connection through decades of shifting musical landscapes and contrasting political stances.

Collaboration Details and Track Changes

According to initial reports from Complex, Eminem was originally slated to appear on a different track titled “7 Sins.” However, musician Lil Wayne ultimately took his place on that specific song. Eminem’s contribution landed on “Heal My Faith,” the song Kid Rock had originally approached him to write for.

The project represents Kid Rock’s first move into Christian music and his first complete studio album since his 2022 release, Bad Reputation. The 17-track record blends rock, country, and hip-hop elements. This reflects the artist’s upbringing and desire to present faith-based themes in musical styles outside traditional church genres.

A Detroit Friendship Dating Back to the 1990s

The partnership highlights a relationship that began in the Detroit music scene during the late 1990s. Before Eminem achieved global superstardom with The Slim Shady LP, he appeared on “F— Off,” a track featured on Kid Rock’s 1998 breakthrough album, Devil Without a Cause. Years later, Kid Rock made a cameo appearance in the music video for Eminem’s 2013 single “Berzerk.” In a 2009 interview, Eminem referred to Kid Rock as a friend, noting a dynamic that has persisted despite divergent paths.

The collaboration has faced scrutiny from fans online due to the starkly different political trajectories of the two performers. Kid Rock, whose legal name is Robert James Ritchie, is a prominent conservative figure who has performed at Republican rallies and visited the White House. Conversely, Eminem, born Marshall Mathers, has built a reputation as a vocal critic of Donald Trump, most notably through a sharply worded 2017 freestyle at the BET Hip Hop Awards.

Despite these differences, reports surrounding the album indicate that both artists hope their collaborative effort sets an example. They want to show how personal relationships can endure amidst differing political beliefs in contemporary culture.
