Viewers tuning in to NBC on Saturday, October 17, 2026, will encounter a repeat broadcast of Saturday Night Live rather than an all-new episode. The late-night sketch comedy program is currently navigating a scheduled two-week break following a strong three-episode launch to kick off its milestone 52nd season.
Details on the October 17 Repeat Broadcast
Instead of a fresh installment, tonight’s lineup revisits the Season 52 premiere episode. That initial broadcast featured New York Knicks star guard Jalen Brunson making his hosting debut alongside musical guest KATSEYE, who performed selections from their EP WILD.
The repeat airs in the program’s standard 11:30 p.m. ET time slot on NBC and remains accessible for streaming via Peac**k. Fans hoping for fresh content will have to exercise patience during the network’s planned temporary hiatus.
Why Is SNL Taking a Break?
NBC confirmed the brief scheduling interruption when it initially announced the preliminary slate of hosts and musical guests for the early portion of the autumn season. Having opened Season 52 with three consecutive original broadcasts featuring Brunson, Dakota Johnson, and Shane Gillis, the production team implemented a two-week pause.
Because of this planned intermission, there will also be no live or original episode airing the following week on October 24, 2026.
When Does SNL Return with New Episodes?
Original programming resumes just in time for Halloween. On Saturday, October 31, 2026, Saturday Night Live returns live with actress Inde Navarrette stepping up to host for the very first time. She will be joined by singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams, returning for her second appearance as the evening’s musical guest.
The Halloween special will broadcast live coast-to-coast at 11:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. PT on NBC, with simultaneous streaming available on Peac**k.
