Rock legends Aerosmith have sparked intense speculation regarding a potential return to the stage after sharing a surprise teaser video on Monday, October 5. The clip features 78-year-old frontman Steven Tyler personally modifying the marquee outside Los Angeles’s iconic Hollywood Bowl to display upcoming performance dates for October 29 and November 1.

In the short video shared across the band’s official social media channels, Tyler stands on a ladder while arranging the venue’s bold lettering alongside longtime rock photographer Ross Halfin. During the setup, Tyler turns to Halfin and requests an ampersand, declaring, “It’s ‘Aerosmith and friends, Ross… Aerosmith and friends!” Text included within the clip notes that a full official announcement regarding the dates and lineup will arrive on Tuesday at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET.

The Road to Retirement and Recovery

The tease marks a dramatic and unexpected shift for the Boston-born rock group, who officially announced their retirement from touring on August 2, 2024. That decision followed a severe health setback during their high-profile “Peace Out” farewell tour in September 2023. Just three dates into the trek, Tyler fractured his larynx during a September 9 performance at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, resulting in vocal cord bleeding.

Although the band initially postponed the remainder of their tour dates with the hope of returning to the road, medical evaluations ultimately determined that a full recovery of Tyler’s voice for rigorous, full-scale touring was not possible. Consequently, the group cancelled their remaining scheduled commitments, leaving fans to believe their touring days had permanently ended.

Recent Musical Collaborations and One-Off Appearances

Despite stepping away from traditional touring, Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry have remained active through selective, high-profile appearances and studio work over the past two years. On April 30, 2025, Tyler and Perry reunited on stage for the first time in nearly two years at a private benefit in San Francisco supporting Janie’s Fund, Tyler’s non-profit initiative dedicated to assisting girls and young women who have experienced abuse and trauma.

Later in the summer of 2025, Tyler performed at the star-studded “Back To The Beginning” tribute concert for Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath in Birmingham, England. Tyler, Perry, and British rocker Yungblud (Dominic Harrison) joined forces to release a five-song collaborative EP titled One More Time, demonstrating that the core songwriting partnership remains creatively engaged.

As fans await Tuesday’s official confirmation from the band, the Hollywood Bowl signage has instantly revitalized hopes of seeing the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers perform live once again.
