CBS expanded its massive crime procedural franchise on October 6 with the debut of NCIS: New York. The series brings LL Cool J back to his hometown as Special Agent Sam Hanna. This follows his 14-season run on NCIS: Los Angeles and multi-episode franchise appearances since 2009.
The series airs on Tuesdays at 9/8c on CBS, placed between flagship series NCIS and the prequel NCIS: Origins. For streaming audiences, new episodes are available live for Paramount+ Premium subscribers and on-demand the following day for all Paramount+ plan holders.
Meet the Cast and Characters of NCIS: New York
NCIS: New York blends a familiar face with a new investigative lineup stationed at the New York field office. Production utilizes authentic locations across all five New York City boroughs.
- LL Cool J as Special Agent Sam Hanna: The veteran operative relocates his storyline to New York City to lead high-stakes missions defending a vital port.
- Scott Caan as Special Agent Nick Schaeffer: Known for his work in Hawaii Five-0, Caan plays a roguish agent whose unorthodox methods clash with Hanna’s strictly by-the-book approach.
- Jennifer Beals as Assistant Special Agent in Charge Robyn Wells: Beals portrays the director of the field office, leading her team with intuition and commanding deep respect.
- Jacqueline Byers as Special Agent Addison “Addy” Ross: A rock-solid, tough, and resourceful agent with something to prove.
- Shane Harper as Special Agent Wyatt Hill: A fearless and sharp field operative who is also a hopeless romantic.
- Devin Druid as Tech Specialist Sean Sullivan: A witty and brilliant tech expert who remains resistant to authority.
Behind the Scenes and Franchise Integration
Produced by CBS Studios, the series is spearheaded by co-creators and executive producers Byron Balasco and R. Scott Gemmill, alongside Jason Barrett and LL Cool J. Balasco serves as the showrunner, bringing procedural storytelling to the East Coast metropolitan backdrop.
While the series honors Sam Hanna’s history from NCIS: Los Angeles, network executives designed the narrative to be accessible to newcomers. The show operates as a natural expansion, giving viewers unfamiliar with past iterations a clean entry point.
