Financial platform provider Datarails launched a native Google Sheets integration on October 1, 2026. The New York City-based company enabled finance teams using Google Workspace to connect planning, reporting, and analysis workflows directly to its FinanceOS platform. The expansion extends its governed financial data layer beyond Microsoft Excel without requiring organizations standardized in Google Workspace to migrate existing spreadsheet workflows.
Governed Data Layer Extends to Google Workspace
Datarails FinanceOS has served as a single source of truth for finance teams building and managing planning, reporting, and analysis in Excel. With this launch, that same governed data layer becomes available natively to organizations using Google Workspace, including Google Sheets. Finance teams can now maintain trusted, auditable data regardless of which spreadsheet application their organization standardizes on.
“Most finance teams face a challenge of scattered spreadsheets reflecting several versions of the truth,” said Didi Gurfinkel, Co-founder and CEO of Datarails. “The tool may vary: whether it is Excel, Google Sheets, PowerPoint, or LLMs. What does not change is the need for a trusted data layer ensuring every AI output is accurate, governed, repeatable, and auditable. With Datarails now supporting Google Sheets for finance, teams have the confidence of FinanceOS behind every output.”
Key Features Inside Google Sheets
The native integration embeds Datarails functionality directly within the Google Sheets interface. Finance professionals can construct financial models using Datarails formulas via a built-in formula-building panel for managing functions and conditions. Teams can create Datarails tables and reports natively, add custom columns that persist through every data refresh, and apply global filters so only authorized data appears in a given sheet.
Every number stays live: figures update automatically as underlying data changes. Any cell-including those merely referencing a Datarails number-can be drilled into for detailed records, allowing users to answer questions about data lineage without leaving the spreadsheet.
Real-Time Collaboration Preserved
Because the integration operates natively, teams retain access to Google Sheets’ real-time collaboration features. These include simultaneous co-editing, user presence indicators, and commenting capabilities. Multiple people can work in the same connected workbook at once, with the option to export any view as static values when a frozen snapshot is needed.
Platform-Agnostic Approach
“We’re not here to pick sides between Excel and Google Sheets,” Gurfinkel added. “We just want to make sure finance has the same trusted, governed data no matter what any finance team uses.” The company said the move reflects a broader principle: the CFO’s office uses Datarails to standardize its single source of truth regardless of the tools the organization uses.
