The former estate of late boxing champion, Olympic gold medalist, minister, and businessman George Foreman has officially been placed on the market for $6 million. Located in Huffman, Texas, about 35 miles northeast of downtown Houston, the expansive 13.5-acre property reflects the unique lifestyle and multi-faceted career of the legendary sports icon.

Situated at 29310 Martelly Way within the gated Commons at Lake Houston community, the property features a nearly 12,000-square-foot main residence and a detached 11,000-square-foot climate-controlled garage. The listing is managed by Evan Compean of the Compean Group, who noted that the private compound offers a rare combination of scale, privacy, and purpose-built custom features.

A Custom Compound Built Around Family and Legacy

Built in 2001, the one-story Mediterranean-style home was meticulously designed by Foreman and his wife, Mary Joan Martelly, to accommodate their large family and extensive hobbies. The residence features five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, soaring ceilings, imported marble flooring, detailed millwork, architectural columns, and three fireplaces.

At the center of the home is a steel-framed atrium featuring soaring glass ceilings that flood the ballroom-style living space with natural light. The interior layout splits into distinct wings, including a gourmet kitchen and family quarters on one side, and private spaces dedicated to Foreman on the other.

Known affectionately by his family as “dad’s wing,” this section includes a fully equipped home gym, a private library, and a home office where Foreman planned and recorded sermons after becoming an ordained minister in 1978. The estate also includes two kitchens, one of which features a custom island emblazoned with the cursive initials “G.F.” where Foreman filmed commercials for the iconic George Foreman Grill.

Extensive Grounds and Collector Car Garage

The estate’s grounds offer extensive recreational and specialized amenities tailored to Foreman’s personal interests. The massive 11,000-square-foot detached garage was originally built to house Foreman’s collection of more than 40 luxury and collector cars. Real estate agents note that the climate-controlled structure can easily be converted into a boxing gym, basketball court, or sports facility.

Outdoor features include a tennis court, a basketball court, a tiered stone fountain, expansive lawns, an air-conditioned dog kennel for his past pets, and a stocked fishing pond surrounded by woods. An additional 14.79 adjacent acres are also available for separate purchase outside of the primary listing price.

Remembering George Foreman

Foreman passed away on March 21, 2025, at the age of 76. His professional legacy spans winning a heavyweight gold medal at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, claiming the world heavyweight title in 1973, and recapturing it in 1994 at age 45 to become the oldest fighter in history to hold the crown. Outside the ring, his business venture with the George Foreman Grill sold more than 100 million units worldwide.

His daughter, Natalie Foreman, shared that while the home feels empty without him, the family hopes a future buyer will embrace the property for large gatherings, celebrations, and community events just as their family did for decades.
