Happy Days Star Anson Williams Shares Inspiring Age Message

October 7, 2026 3 min read 0 comments

Former Happy Days star Anson Williams is challenging age-related stereotypes head-on. The actor and director marked his 77th birthday by posting a shirtless mirror selfie on social media. He used the milestone to share an empowering message about health, vitality, and refusing to let age define one’s limits.

Best known for playing the lovable and musically inclined Potsie Weber on the iconic sitcom Happy Days-which ran for 11 seasons from 1974 to 1984-Williams looked relaxed and fit in the photo while flexing his right bicep. Alongside the snapshot, he offered a candid reflection on entering his late seventies.

“We didn’t come this far to become invisible. We came this far to become unstoppable. We’re not winding down. We’re still winning – and we haven’t even played our best hand yet,” Williams wrote in the caption.

A Powerful Message on Aging for Baby Boomers

Williams did not hold back when addressing his peers in the baby boomer generation. He encouraged them to push back against societal expectations of growing older. “My yearly reminder to every Boomer: NEVER let anyone diminish us because of our age,” he urged.

The actor noted that despite trading his character’s signature dark hair for a silver look, he feels more vibrant now than he did decades ago. “More creative, healthier, busier, more curious – and more alive than I was at 40,” he shared.

Crediting Lifestyle and Partnership

When discussing his overall well-being, Williams credited a healthy lifestyle and a supportive home life. He married his third wife, real estate broker Sharon MaHarry, in 2023. The couple has also collaborated creatively, including working together on MaHarry’s one-woman show, Crazy Mama: A Memoir of Love and Madness.

In his birthday reflection, Williams emphasized the importance of everyday disciplines and meaningful connections:

  • A supportive partner who inspires the best qualities
  • Maintaining physical health through proper nutrition, movement, and self-care
  • Embracing adventure, kindness, and continuous personal growth
  • An absolute refusal to let outside opinions dictate self-worth

From Sitcom Star to Prolific Director

Millions of fans worldwide will always remember him as Richie Cunningham’s endearing best friend Potsie on Happy Days, a role that earned him a Golden Globe nomination. After the show wrapped, Williams successfully transitioned behind the camera.

He built an extensive and acclaimed television directing career, helming episodes for major hit series such as:

  • Beverly Hills, 90210
  • Melrose Place
  • Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
  • Baywatch
  • Sabrina the Teenage Witch
  • The Secret Life of the American Teenager

In addition to his creative pursuits, Williams is a cancer survivor, having successfully beaten colon cancer in 2016. His latest social media post drew an overwhelming wave of positive comments. Fans and followers praised his physical shape, positive outlook, and enduring connection to television history.
