Canadian actor Jacob Tremblay takes on the role of a young Ted Kaczynski in Netflix’s biographical drama Unabomber, which debuted on Friday, September 25, 2026. The 19-year-old former child star shared that he drew personal parallels between Kaczynski’s early academic isolation and his own experiences growing up in the entertainment industry.
Directed by Janus Metz, the feature film explores Kaczynski’s life long before he became known as an ecoterrorist. The storyline traces his remarkable admission to Harvard University at just 16 years old, as well as his participation in controversial psychological experiments led by Dr. Henry Murray, which were later connected to the CIA’s MK-Ultra initiative.

The biographical drama utilizes a dual-timeline narrative, crosscutting between Kaczynski’s formative years in academia and the intense decades-long manhunt that ultimately brought him to justice. Alongside Tremblay, the star-studded cast features:

While developing the script, screenwriters Sam Chalsen and Nelson Greaves uncovered lesser-known history regarding Kaczynski’s youth and his time as a test subject at Harvard.
