Marvel’s VisionQuest is expanding its emotional core by bringing back one of its most anticipated characters. Actor Ruaridh Mollica has confirmed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that Joe Locke will officially reprise his role as Billy Maximoff in later episodes of the Disney+ series.
The eight-episode series premiered on Disney+ with its first two episodes, continuing the complex narrative threads established in WandaVision and Agatha All Along. Created and run by Terry Matalas, VisionQuest follows White Vision (Paul Bettany) as he searches for purpose in a world shaped by past conflicts, alongside a storyline centered on Tommy Maximoff (Ruaridh Mollica) living in London.
Ruaridh Mollica Confirms Billy and Tommy’s On-Screen Reunion
The confirmation of Locke’s return resolves months of intense fan speculation regarding whether the twin brothers would finally share the screen. Mollica, who portrays the adult version of Tommy Maximoff, revealed that he and Locke filmed scenes together for the series, noting that the experience was amazing.
“We actually shot our MCU stuff before we did the play,” Mollica shared during his interview, referencing their previous collaboration in a West End stage production. “We became such good friends instantly.”
The brothers’ storyline has been a driving force across Marvel Television’s recent projects. Created by Wanda’s chaos magic inside the Westview anomaly, Billy and Tommy’s physical bodies vanished when the Hex came down. While Billy’s soul preserved itself by entering the body of William Kaplan-culminating in his journey as Wiccan in Agatha All Along-Tommy’s soul was eventually placed into the body of Thomas Shepherd, a teenager who had recently drowned.
Background Clues and Fan Theories
Even before Mollica’s official confirmation, observant fans found subtle hints pointing toward Billy’s presence in VisionQuest. Promotional material from Marvel appeared to show Billy using blue magic against Vision, while eagle-eyed viewers spotted a mysterious figure resembling Locke’s character walking past Tommy in the background of Episode 1.
Joe Locke heightened excitement by attending the series’ UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival. His return bridges the gap between the magical mystery of Agatha All Along and Vision’s quest for identity.
The Wider Cast and Creative Team of VisionQuest
Aside from Paul Bettany returning as Vision and Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy, VisionQuest features a robust ensemble cast including:
- James Spader as Ultron
- Todd Stashwick as the bounty hunter Paladin
- T’Nia Miller as Jocasta
- Lauren Morais as Lisa Molinari
- Orla Brady as F.R.i.D.A.Y.
- Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H.
With Terry Matalas steering the series as showrunner, new episodes of VisionQuest air weekly on Disney+, bringing the overarching story of Wanda’s family legacy closer to a powerful resolution.
