A convenience store in Lakeside, California, sold a lucrative Powerball ticket worth $2,259,918 during Saturday evening’s drawing. The ticket matched five main numbers while missing only the final Powerball, according to lottery officials.

The winning ticket was purchased at Americo Gas, located at 12402 Woodside Avenue in the unincorporated community of Lakeside. City News Service reported the big win following the weekend drawing, sparking excitement across the local San Diego County neighborhood.

Winning Numbers and Drawing Details

The numbers drawn on Saturday night were 1, 4, 19, 33, and 51. The red Powerball number was 15, and the estimated jackpot heading into the weekend event stood at $516 million.

No single ticket matched all six numbers drawn nationwide, so the multi-state jackpot rolled over. This pushed the estimated jackpot for the upcoming Monday drawing to an impressive $538 million.

Why California Payouts Differ

Standard tickets matching five numbers without the Powerball carry fixed prizes of $1 million or $2 million in other participating states. However, California operates under different regulations.

Under California law, major lottery payoffs are determined on a pari-mutuel basis. This system means prize payouts fluctuate based on total ticket sales volume and the exact number of winning tickets across various tiers.

Powerball Odds and Game Reach

Saturday’s event marked the 24th consecutive drawing without a grand prize winner. According to the Multi-State Lottery Association, the mathematical odds of matching all five main numbers plus the Powerball are approximately 1 in 292.2 million.

Despite the steep odds for the grand prize, the overall chance of winning any prize tier is 1 in 24.9. Powerball drawings take place across 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the United Kingdom.
