CBS officially debuts the second season of its hit Yellowstone spinoff drama Marshals on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 8:30 p.m. ET / 9:00 p.m. PT. Following a massively successful freshman run that made it the most-watched broadcast series of the 2025-2026 television season, the procedural drama returns with high stakes, explosive conflicts, and a desperate rescue mission.
Set roughly 15 months after the original Yellowstone series finale, the narrative follows single father Kayce Dutton-portrayed once again by Luke Grimes-as he leaves the ranch behind to join an elite U.S. Marshals unit tasked with bringing range justice to Montana. Season 2 picks up immediately after the brutal events of the Season 1 finale.
What to Expect from the Season 2 Premiere
The premiere episode, titled “All Hat No Cattle,” dives straight into the aftermath of the first season’s cliffhanger. Viewers will see Kayce realize that his son, Tate (Brecken Merrill), has been taken hostage by forces working for land developer Tom Weaver (Chris Mulkey). Weaver engineered a violent conspiracy and funded a kill squad to acquire East Camp, dragging the Dutton family into a dangerous new war.
With his son’s life hanging in the balance, Kayce goes rogue in a desperate race against time. Meanwhile, the rest of the U.S. Marshals unit races to uncover a sprawling criminal network tied directly to the Montana land grab, leading to a violent showdown that threatens everything Kayce holds dear.
Cast and Returning Favorites
The sophomore season brings back the core ensemble cast alongside a few exciting additions from the broader Yellowstone universe:
- Luke Grimes as Special Deputy U.S. Marshal Kayce Dutton
- Logan Marshall-Green as Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Pete “Cal” Calvin
- Arielle Kebbel as Deputy U.S. Marshal Isabel “Belle” Turek-Skinner
- Ash Santos as Deputy U.S. Marshal Andrea Cruz
- Tatanka Means as Deputy U.S. Marshal Miles Kittle

In addition to the returning favorites, fans can look forward to a major crossover cameo. Given that Tate was taken toward Texas, Jimmy may play a vital role in helping Kayce execute the rescue.
On the supporting side, Marque Richardson joins the cast in a recurring role as Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Burns, adding even more legal and personal complications to the regional conflict.
