Marvel Studios has officially confirmed that Finn Jones will return as Danny Rand, also known as Iron Fist, in the third season of Daredevil: Born Again. The announcement was made during a Marvel Television and Marvel Animation panel at New York Comic Con 2026, where Jones appeared alongside fellow Defenders stars Charlie Cox and Krysten Ritter.
Set photographs had previously hinted at Jones’ involvement during production. However, the convention appearance marked the first official confirmation from Marvel Studios. This upcoming third season will reunite the complete street-level team on screen for the first time since the 2017 Netflix series The Defenders. Mike Colter, who plays Luke Cage, was scheduled to join the panel but missed the event due to a scheduling conflict.
The Defenders Reunite for the Final Season
During the New York Comic Con presentation, Marvel shared exclusive first-look footage from Daredevil: Born Again Season 3. The teaser highlighted a dramatic prison sequence featuring Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock. In the scene, Murdock crafts a makeshift orange Daredevil suit from his prison uniform after his public identity exposure.
The third season will serve as the final installment of the series. Consisting of eight episodes, production officially wrapped in July 2026. The series finale is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in March 2027, bringing a definitive close to Cox’s second three-season run as the Man Without Fear.
Embracing Netflix Continuity
Jones’ return as Iron Fist signifies Marvel Studios’ commitment to embracing the established continuity of the legacy Netflix shows. Initial plans for Daredevil: Born Again favored a legal procedural with few ties to the original Netflix canon. However, late-stage creative overhauls during Season 1 shifted the direction to fully honor previous storylines.
Fans of the original Netflix era will see several familiar faces return alongside the main Defenders quartet. The cast lineup for the final season includes:
