Pop icon Miley Cyrus has sparked widespread speculation regarding the Super Bowl 61 halftime show after teasing a potential performance on social media. As the National Football League prepares for its upcoming title game at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, fans and prediction markets are reacting heavily to the sudden hints dropped by the Grammy-winning artist.
The 33-year-old singer heightened rumors after posting a photo on Instagram with a caption indicating rehearsal activities for a major event. The post followed the circulation of an unverified screenshot across social platforms, which claimed Apple Music had temporarily released a teaser image displaying a female silhouette that many fans identified as the “Flowers” singer.
Prediction Markets Respond to Social Media Speculation
Trading figures on the prediction market exchange Kalshi reflected a dramatic shift following the online rumors. Probability odds for Cyrus headlining the halftime stage climbed from 29 percent recorded the previous week to as high as 57 percent. Market volume surged past $700,000 as traders reacted to the viral speculation and potential leaks.
Despite the excitement, the alleged Apple Music leak remains unverified, and neither the NFL nor Roc Nation has issued an official announcement regarding the headliner for the February 2027 showcase. Super Bowl halftime performers are historically announced between late September and mid-October during the regular NFL season.
Weighing the Pressure of the Halftime Stage
Cyrus previously addressed the immense scale of the gig during an interview with Variety, admitting that the event carries unique challenges. “I always think the Super Bowl feels like too much pressure,” she remarked, pointing to the massive global viewership.
However, she noted she would consider the challenge if she could curate a personal journey through her extensive discography, comparing the concept to her commemorative musical milestones. With her two decades in the music industry-dating back to her Disney Channel days on Hannah Montana-analysts agree she possesses the catalog and household name recognition required for the world’s most-watched musical 15 minutes.
