Country music singer-songwriter Miranda Lambert officially released her 12-track studio album, Crisco, via MCA. This release marks a major stylistic pivot for the 42-year-old artist. She leans into late-1970s country-disco grooves, sweeping orchestral strings, and upbeat dance-floor anthems following a historic period of career success.
Co-produced by Lambert and Jesse Frasure, the album follows her 2024 record Postcards from Texas and expands her musical boundaries. The project weaves together honky-tonk traditions, heartbreak narratives, romance, reflection, and roller-skate nostalgia. This was inspired in part by classic 1970s and 1980s crossover sounds pioneered by artists like Glen Campbell, Kenny Rogers, and Dolly Parton.
The Inspiration Behind the Disco Pivot
Lambert first began shaping the foundational concept for her new sonic direction after visiting a New York venue during World Pride in 2019. She attended with her brother and his husband. That experience planted the seeds for mixing traditional country lyricism with soulful bass lines, keys, and disco rhythms.
When announcing the project, Lambert described wanting to find a middle ground between her love for classic storytelling and high-energy fun:
I’ve always loved every corner of country music. The heartbreak songs, the honky-tonk songs, the songs that make you think and the songs that make you dance. Making this record reminded me that those things don’t have to be separated. We followed the songs wherever they wanted to go, trusted our instincts and ended up with something that feels really fun and really honest to who I am.
Collaborations and Track List
Crisco features several notable guest appearances and songwriting partnerships. These include longtime collaborators Natalie Hemby, Ashley Monroe, Waylon Payne, Aaron Raitiere, and Josh Osborne. Rising country artist Ella Langley is featured on the opening swaggering track “Snakeskin Boots.” Meanwhile, GRAMMY-winner Chris Stapleton joins Lambert on the previously released duet “A Song To Sing,” which serves as track 10.

Recent Career Milestones
The release of Crisco caps an extraordinary streak of accolades and milestones for Lambert. She recently broke records as the most nominated female artist in Country Music Association Awards history, pulling in seven CMA nominations. Additionally, her work co-writing and co-producing the mega-hit “Choosin’ Texas” for Ella Langley topped the Billboard charts as the longest-running No. 1 single. This helped Lambert become the only woman to simultaneously hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts.
To celebrate the arrival of the new record, Lambert scheduled special live performances. These included a sold-out headline opening-night show at Nashville’s new venue, The Truth, backed by her full band and a 12-piece string orchestra, followed by an appearance at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth.
