Veteran rock musician Rod Stewart has officially announced his retirement from major live touring. His final European series of concerts is titled The Final Encore. The career-spanning farewell trek is scheduled to commence on April 23, 2027, at the 3Arena in Dublin. This tour will bring an end to more than six decades of life on the road for the iconic singer.
The 81-year-old singer-songwriter will perform across major arena venues in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Stops include Belfast, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, and London’s The O2. Following the UK leg, Stewart will travel to mainland Europe for an extensive run of arena shows. The final tour concludes on July 24, 2027, at the ZAG Arena in Hanover, Germany.
Musician Howard Jones is confirmed to provide support for all United Kingdom and Ireland shows. Fanclub presale tickets launch on September 29, 2026. Local presales and general ticket sales will open on October 2.
“The Time Has Come to Say Farewell”
In an official statement released alongside the tour announcement, Stewart reflected on his remarkable journey in the music industry. He began singing professionally at age 19.
“My dear friends, the time has come to say farewell to life on the road,” said Stewart. “After more than six decades, The Final Encore will most definitely be my last. I’ve been singing the music I love since I was 19 years old, and I’ve had the privilege of taking it around the world to all of you. It has given me a life beyond anything I could ever have imagined, and I hope I’ve given you some fond memories in return.”
Stewart clarified that this is his final rock and roll tour. However, he is not entirely retiring from music. He is not ruling out occasional, one-off live appearances in the future, similar to the path taken by other veteran touring acts.
Health Recovery and Recent Tour Adjustments
The announcement follows a series of health-related disruptions to Stewart’s recent touring schedule. Earlier this year, the singer canceled remaining dates on his North American One Last Time farewell tour. He underwent a routine coronary stent procedure in August. Medical professionals advised him to take time to recuperate and regain full fitness following the successful procedure.
Stewart’s legendary career includes massive commercial success. He achieved this both as a solo artist and as the frontman for groups such as the Faces and the Jeff Beck Group. His most recent studio release, 2024’s Swing Fever, was recorded with Jools Holland and claimed the No. 1 spot on the charts.
