Canadian actor Simu Liu married music industry executive Allison Hsu over the weekend in France, a publicist for the Marvel star confirmed on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. This quiet ceremony concludes a courtship that officially began in late 2022 and comes nearly a year after the couple became engaged during a romantic vacation in Paris.
Reports from TMZ first revealed that the pair exchanged vows in France. Liu, 37, and Hsu, 30, made their initial public appearance as a couple at a Los Angeles movie premiere in November 2022, attending the screening of Violent Night in matching holiday sweaters.
A Journey From Dating to a Paris Engagement
Throughout their relationship, the couple frequently shared milestone updates on social media. Liu proposed to Hsu in May 2025 against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower. Hsu shared photos of the engagement ring on Instagram with the simple caption, “Us forever,” while Liu posted pictures celebrating their journey together.
To make the proposal memorable, Liu enlisted the help of pop superstar Taylor Swift. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Liu explained that because Hsu is a lifelong fan and digital marketing executive in the music industry, he reached out through Swift’s publicist. Swift sent a congratulatory video within two days, which Liu played for Hsu immediately after proposing.
“She is just so nice and so sweet,” Liu said of Swift, noting that Hsu completely lost her composure when she saw the surprise message.
