Texas Roadhouse Customer Claims Wrong Steak Served 3 Times

A loyal patron of a Texas Roadhouse location in Forsyth, Illinois, sparked a widespread online discussion regarding restaurant order accuracy and steak cuts after claiming he was repeatedly served the wrong cut of meat. Kenneth Card shared his experience in a viral TikTok video in early October, alleging that he received a less expensive sirloin instead of his ordered filet mignon on three separate occasions.

Card’s video quickly drew significant attention, accumulating over 30,000 views. According to pricing at the Forsyth restaurant cited by Fox News Digital, an 8-ounce sirloin typically costs about $20, while a filet mignon runs approximately $30. Card stated that his background working and cutting steaks in hotel and restaurant kitchens gave him the expertise required to easily distinguish between the two cuts.

Background on the Alleged Incidents

Card explained that he had been a regular customer at the Forsyth Texas Roadhouse, visiting approximately once a week for over a year and developing a rapport with the staff. However, his frustration mounted as the perceived steak mix-ups continued.

According to Card:

  • First Incident: He notified staff that he believed he received the incorrect cut, and the restaurant promptly provided a replacement filet.
  • Second Incident: He chose to eat the served steak without raising an issue to the staff.
  • Third Incident: He addressed the matter directly with a manager after ordering a filet mignon and receiving a sirloin once again.

When Card questioned the manager during his third visit, he claimed staff took the plate back for a second opinion and confirmed it was not the cut he originally ordered. Card eventually waited for a replacement, asked for it to go, and recorded his video after returning home to warn other diners.

Restaurant Response and Corporate Statement

Following the circulation of Card’s video, a spokesperson for Texas Roadhouse addressed the claims. The corporate office stated that they had not been able to track that this occurred on three occasions, but confirmed that at least one mix-up occurred onsite and was promptly corrected by management.

The company emphasized that team members utilize double-check procedures to ensure food quality and order accuracy as plates are expedited from the kitchen. Restaurant representatives advised that any customer who believes they received an incorrect item or an erroneous charge should alert their server immediately so the local team can address and rectify the issue on the spot. Card, however, stated that he does not plan to return to the Forsyth location.

The Difference: Filet Mignon vs. Sirloin

The core of Card’s public complaint highlights the culinary and financial differences between the two beef cuts offered on casual dining menus:

  • Filet Mignon: Sourced from the tenderloin muscle along a cow’s spine, this cut experiences very little movement and bears minimal weight. This results in an exceptionally lean, tender texture with a lower fat ratio, commanding a higher menu price.
  • Sirloin: Sourced from the sirloin primal in the midsection and rear, this muscle works harder and supports more weight. Consequently, sirloin offers a stronger beef flavor, a firmer texture, a higher meat-to-fat ratio, and a more affordable price point.

While social media commenters remain divided-with some sympathizing with the customer’s frustration over paying premium prices and others questioning why he continued returning-the incident serves as a reminder for diners to verify their orders before leaving the restaurant.
