Comedian and podcast host Theo Von is returning to Netflix with his third stand-up comedy special, titled I’m Doing Fine. The upcoming hour is scheduled to premiere globally on October 20, following the release of its first official trailer. This milestone release marks Von’s first full-length comedy hour on the streaming platform in five years, following a period of public discussion and concern surrounding a previous New York City taping in 2025.
What to Expect From ‘I’m Doing Fine’
According to official programming details, I’m Doing Fine features Von diving into his signature brand of freewheeling humor. The material touches on his unique rural upbringing, personal life experiences, and characteristically unusual storytelling. In preview clips released by Netflix, Von can be seen riffing on absurd topics from his hometown, including a classic bit involving a local man caught with a 30-pound bag of hamster bones, prompting a quick crowd-work calculation from the comedian.
Industry observers and fans have noted that the title of the special appears to be a cheeky nod to headlines surrounding Von’s previous live tapings. During a prior performance, audience members grew concerned about the comedian’s well-being after video footage captured him opening up about mental health struggles on stage. Von later addressed his supporters directly on his popular podcast, assuring everyone that he was doing well.
Production and Netflix History
The new stand-up hour is directed by Kevin Morra, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Theo Von and Paul J. Morra. The project is produced by Swift River Productions.
This special continues Von’s long-standing relationship with Netflix. His debut comedy hour for the platform, Theo Von: No Offense, premiered in 2016, followed by his second special, Regular People, in 2021.
Expanding Entertainment Footprint
Beyond his stand-up touring, Von commands a massive audience as the host of his weekly podcast, This Past Weekend. The show has gained widespread attention for booking a diverse, high-profile lineup of guests ranging from Hollywood actors like Joaquin Phoenix to political figures like Bernie Sanders and media personalities like Tucker Carlson.
In addition to audio and stand-up comedy, Von expanded his cinematic footprint earlier this year by starring alongside fellow comedian David Spade in the feature film Busboys, a project the two comedians personally wrote and self-financed.
Fans can stream I’m Doing Fine globally when it drops on Netflix on October 20.
