Marvel Television has released new promotional teasers for the upcoming Disney+ series VisionQuest, giving fans their first official look at the live-action debut of the artificial intelligence character Jocasta alongside footage confirming the arrival of the original Human Torch.
Set to premiere on October 14, VisionQuest serves as the third and final chapter in a trilogy that began with WandaVision in 2021 and continued with Agatha All Along. The eight-episode series is created by Terry Matalas and features Paul Bettany reprising his role as Vision. In the show, a rebooted Vision is on the run and evading capture while trying to piece together his fragmented identity alongside a young companion named Thomas Shepard.
Jocasta Makes Her Live-Action Debut
Actress T’Nia Miller joins the main cast as Jocasta, an AI character originally created in Marvel Comics by Jim Shooter and George Pérez in 1977. In the source material, Jocasta was built by Ultron to serve as his robotic bride before she ultimately rebelled to join the Avengers. Series creator Terry Matalas has described Miller’s portrayal as a standout element of the MCU.
In the promotional footage, the live-action version of Jocasta appears with a silver chassis, glowing red apertures on her cheeks, and a forehead jewel reminiscent of Vision’s design. Her inclusion ties directly into the return of James Spader as Ultron, who will appear both within Vision’s mindscape and physically alongside Bettany.
The Original Human Torch Enters the MCU
Along with Jocasta, the latest 34-second teaser highlights a figure completely engulfed in standing flames inside a large library setting. This footage confirms the live-action arrival of Jim Hammond, the original synthetic android Human Torch created by Carl Burgos for Marvel Comics #1 in 1939, decades before Johnny Storm adopted the mantle.
Hammond’s MCU roots trace back fifteen years to 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, which featured a brief glimpse of a glass display case at the 1943 Stark Expo showcasing his classic red costume and inventor Phineas T. Horton. In the comics, Ultron utilized Hammond’s dormant body to help construct Vision, establishing a deep mythological connection between the two characters as Vision navigates his inner memories.
Cast and Production Details
Alongside Bettany and Spader, the expansive cast features the return of James D’Arcy as Edwin Jarvis. New additions joining the project include Ruaridh Mollica, Todd Stashwick, Emily Hampshire, Orla Brady, and Lauren Morais.
Executive producers for the series include Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Mary Livanos, Terry Matalas, Jac Schaeffer, and Christopher J. Byrne, with Roopesh Parekh producing. VisionQuest begins streaming exclusively on Disney+ on October 14.
