Wales national team manager Craig Bellamy is facing head coaching speculation linking him to West Ham United. Comments from former defender James Collins sparked the discussion, even as the London club continues its push for an immediate Premier League return under current manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

James Collins Backs Bellamy for London Stadium Role
Former West Ham and Wales defender James Collins addressed Bellamy’s future managerial prospects during an appearance on talkSPORT. Collins praised the 47-year-old coach, stating that he possesses the exact qualities required to manage a major club.
“I think he speaks brilliantly. He speaks sense, he says the truth. If they haven’t played well, he’ll tell you and what more do you want from a manager?” Collins said. “I can see him at a big club. Obviously West Ham are doing well, but I know he loves the football club and loved his time at West Ham when I was there.”
Bellamy previously played for West Ham after joining from Liverpool in 2007 for a then-club record fee of £7.5 million. Despite an injury-hit spell that limited him to just nine appearances in his first full season, he scored four goals before moving to Manchester City in January 2009.
Bellamy Responds to Transfer and Job Rumors
Speaking to the media during the international break, Bellamy acknowledged the speculation linking him to his former club. He revealed that members of his Wales squad reached out to ask if he would walk away from his international duties.
“I couldn’t see it being fair for me to walk away, do you understand?” Bellamy told Sky Sports News. “When you’ve got one or two players ringing you up asking like ‘is this true?’ — nah, we’re not going anywhere, we’re in, we’re going again. We’ve got another two years, let’s go.”
Bellamy remains fully contracted to lead Wales through their qualifying campaigns and the home European Championships scheduled for the summer of 2028. Nuno Espirito Santo’s current agreement with West Ham also expires in the summer of 2028, leading analysts to note a potential alignment in timelines if the club seeks a new direction.

Despite the long-term speculation, West Ham remains committed to Nuno Espirito Santo during their Championship campaign. The team has started the season strongly, scoring 22 goals in their opening eight league fixtures, and remains focused on securing automatic promotion back to the Premier League.
