The Denver Broncos staged a dramatic second-half comeback to beat the Los Angeles Rams 30-26 on Sunday night, but a disputed penalty call late in the fourth quarter became the main talking point of the game.
Trailing 26-23 with just a few minutes remaining, Denver faced a third-and-6 at the Rams’ 11-yard line. Broncos quarterback Bo Nix threw toward wide receiver Pat Bryant near the sideline. Rams cornerback Josh Wallace stepped in front to make a sliding interception in the end zone, seemingly putting Los Angeles in position to finish the game. However, officials threw a flag on Wallace for defensive pass interference, wiping out the turnover and giving Denver a fresh set of downs inside the red zone.

Denver found its rhythm in the third quarter, scoring 16 unanswered points to tie the game. After Rams kicker Harrison Mevis put Los Angeles back ahead 19-16 with a field goal, the game descended into a frantic back-and-forth final period.

Stafford got one last chance with under a minute remaining, driving the Rams inside the Denver 20-yard line. On the final play of regulation, Stafford launched a pass toward the end zone, but Hufanga picked it off to secure the victory for the Broncos.

Despite the anger from Rams fans online, veteran defensive lineman Aaron Donald refused to blame the loss solely on the late penalty call, pointing to the defense letting a 16-point halftime lead slip away.
Stafford finished the night completing 30 of 55 passes for 390 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Rookie receiver Konata Mumpfield posted a career-high 93 receiving yards in the losing effort.
With the win, the Broncos improved to 2-1 on the season, while the Rams dropped to 1-2 as they prepare to face the Philadelphia Eagles next week.
