A luxury Bentley Flying Spur previously owned by Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is listed for sale at £124,975 by a dealership in Doncaster. The high-end vehicle has covered approximately 7,000 miles. Portland Autos is marketing it as an ex-royal family car, priced at about half of its initial value from six years ago.
Dealership records and industry reports show the luxury sedan was acquired new for about £220,000 when Andrew held the title Duke of York. The vehicle previously featured the personalized registration plate A03 DOY. Under this configuration, Andrew was photographed driving the car to high-profile events. These included the funeral of Prince Philip in April 2021 and his granddaughter Sienna’s christening the following year. The personalized registration was removed in 2025 following alterations to his royal status and style.
Discovery of the Royal Connection
Clive Watson is the owner of Doncaster-based Portland Autos, which was established in 1983. He revealed that the dealership did not purchase the vehicle directly from the royal household. Instead, the luxury automobile entered their inventory through a third-party acquisition. The dealership uncovered the car’s royal background only after conducting a routine investigation into its unusual and meticulous service records.
Speaking about the find, Watson noted that the vehicle’s provenance highlights its upkeep. The fact that it was owned by a royal is likely to help sell it as it is both something of interest about the car and it means it will have been incredibly well cared for,
Watson stated. The Bentley is beautiful, in flawless condition and has just 7,000 miles on it.
Vehicle Specifications and History
The vehicle was originally delivered in a blue finish before being resprayed in racing green. This traditionally specified Bentley Flying Spur boasts an extensive list of bespoke options. Key interior and exterior features include:
- 22-inch polished alloy wheels
- LED welcome lamps
- Massage and ventilated front and rear seats
- Cream leather and walnut wood interior trim
- Built-in glass sunroof and dashboard Breitling clock
After several years of use within royal circles, the vehicle passed through specialist hands before arriving at Portland Autos. Asking prices varied slightly across trade publications, with listings noting figures between £124,975 and £125,000. This represents a significant depreciation from its original custom-order cost.
Broader Context of Royal Vehicle Sales
The listing coincides with broader changes surrounding Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s transport arrangements and public profile. DVLA records indicate that multiple private registration plates bearing the initials “DOY” have been deregistered. In later public appearances, alternative vehicles carrying standard registration plates have been used.
Automotive market analysts suggest that vehicles with royal or celebrity provenance often attract heightened public curiosity. However, ultimate sales performance relies heavily on condition, mileage, and standard market demand for ultra-luxury pre-owned sedans.
