Actress Minka Kelly and Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds have ended their relationship after four years together. A source close to the couple confirmed the breakup to People on Wednesday, October 7, noting that the split happened recently. Representatives for both stars did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
A Unique Beginning Built on Vulnerability
The pair first crossed paths in 2022 after being introduced by a mutual friend. Because Kelly was working in the United Kingdom at the time, their initial interactions took place entirely over the phone. Rather than starting with casual small talk, the couple bonded quickly by sharing deeply personal creative projects.
At the time, Kelly was finalizing her memoir, Tell Me Everything, while Reynolds was working on music for the Imagine Dragons album Loom. Reynolds recalled the unconventional introduction in a 2024 interview. He explained that Kelly offered to share her book manuscript despite finding it vulnerable. Reading her life story before meeting in person allowed them to understand each other on a profound level right from the start.
Public Outings and Shared Milestones
Kelly and Reynolds made their first public appearance together in November 2022 during a dinner date at Cafe Stella in Los Angeles. Over the course of their romance, they frequently shared glimpses of their life together with fans. These moments included Disneyland trips with Reynolds’ children-whom he shares with his ex-wife, Aja Volkman-and lighthearted social media updates.
Their most recent major public appearance took place in May at the 2026 Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Gala in Los Angeles, where they made their red-carpet debut. Kelly later documented the outing on her Instagram account.
Past Relationships and Next Chapters
Before their romance began, both Kelly and Reynolds navigated high-profile splits. Reynolds and his former wife, Aja Volkman, married in 2011 and separated before Volkman filed for divorce in 2023. Kelly, known for her roles in Friday Night Lights, Euphoria, and Ransom Canyon, was previously linked to comedian Trevor Noah, musician John Mayer, athlete Derek Jeter, and actor Chris Evans.
As of now, neither Kelly nor Reynolds has publicly released a formal statement regarding the reasons behind their recent separation.
