Hallmark’s beloved historical drama When Calls the Heart is preparing to take Elizabeth Thornton and Nathan Grant’s relationship to the altar. Series star Erin Krakow dropped a major spoiler during the 10th annual Hearties Family Reunion in Vancouver, Canada, on October 3, revealing that the long-awaited wedding takes place in Season 14.

The announcement surprised fans ahead of the show’s scheduled January 2027 premiere on the Hallmark Channel. Krakow, who plays schoolteacher Elizabeth Thornton, made the revelation while discussing the fictional couple’s future following their romantic engagement in the Season 13 finale.

The Accidental Spoiler at the Hearties Family Reunion

During a panel discussion alongside her co-stars, including Kevin McGarry who plays Mountie Nathan Grant, Krakow discussed filming the new episodes. As captured in an official Instagram video shared by the production, the actress reflected on the emotional journey before letting the detail slip.

“Anyway, it was scary and special and wonderful, and we’re very happy that our characters are now … married!” Krakow announced to the audience. Her jaw dropped as she realized what she had said, and she gasped, “I don’t know if I was supposed to say that!”

The crowd erupted in applause and laughter, thrilled by the confirmation that the couple-affectionately dubbed “Escholars” or “Team Nathan” by the fandom-would not face a prolonged engagement.

Following Krakow’s slip, fellow cast member Jack Wagner added to the excitement during an appearance on the Suspenders Unbuttoned podcast. Wagner confirmed that his character, Mountie Bill Avery, participates directly in the wedding party wearing matching suits with Elizabeth’s young son, Little Jack (played by Hyland Goodrich). Nathan wears his full red-serge Mountie uniform for the occasion.

Building Toward Hope Valley’s Biggest Wedding

The romance between Elizabeth and Nathan has been a slow-burn storyline building since Nathan’s introduction in Season 6. After years of emotional twists, the couple finally came together at the end of Season 11. Season 13 culminated in a proposal overlooking Hope Valley from the town water tower, where Nathan presented a custom silver ring featuring four stones representing himself, Elizabeth, Allie (Jaeda Lily Miller), and Little Jack.

Fans had already pieced together several clues pointing toward a wedding in Season 14:

  • Abigail Stanton’s Return: Hallmark released a preview clip showing Lori Loughlin returning as Abigail Stanton after a seven-year hiatus, warmly telling Elizabeth, “I couldn’t miss your wedding!”
  • Casting Additions: Hollywood icon Marilu Henner joins the cast in Season 14 as Nathan’s mother, Birdie Grant, in a guest-starring role tied to the nuptials.
  • Creative Planning: Viewers joked that Hope Valley’s resident perfectionist, Rosemary Coulter (Pascale Hutton), was likely drafting wedding mood boards the moment the engagement ring went on.

Season 14 of When Calls the Heart premieres on the Hallmark Channel in January 2027, promising a celebratory event that Hope Valley residents and millions of devoted Hearties have anticipated for years.
