On October 11, marking International Day of the Girl, Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Suss*x, collaborated with the nonprofit organization Moms Offering More (MOM) to launch a limited-edition charity sweatshirt. The cream-colored crewneck, priced at $100, features the embroidered phrase “It’s the Little Things” in chocolate brown, a design detail Meghan helped curate alongside the organization.
The garment proved to be an immediate success, selling out within hours of its release. Due to high consumer demand, the organization restocked the item, which subsequently sold out again. Archewell Philanthropies, the organization founded by Meghan and Prince Harry, supported the initiative as part of a broader mission to assist families and mothers across the United States and Canada.
The Inspiration Behind the Design
The message “It’s the Little Things” holds personal significance for Kasondra Herrendorf Cohen, the founder of Moms Offering More. The quote originated from a conversation she shared with her father, Hershel Herrendorf, in May 2014 while they were visiting Stanley Park in Vancouver. Herrendorf, who passed away suddenly the day after sharing the sentiment, told his daughter that it is the small moments in life that ultimately bring people happiness.
Meghan Markle noted the importance of this collaboration in a public statement, emphasizing the collective goal of fostering a safe and supportive future for children. “We can all appreciate that ‘the little things’ ladder up to big outcomes,” the Duchess stated.
Philanthropic Impact and Distribution
The campaign is structured to provide direct financial support to organizations dedicated to family welfare. According to the campaign details, 100% of the proceeds from the sweatshirt sales are distributed equally between two primary beneficiaries:
- Moms Offering More (MOM): A community-driven initiative that provides food security, childcare, and financial assistance to underserved mothers and single-parent households.
- Alliance of Moms: A Los Angeles-based organization that supports pregnant and parenting youth currently navigating the foster care system, operating in partnership with the Alliance for Children’s Rights.
Ongoing Commitment to Family Advocacy
This partnership is not Meghan’s first foray into supporting these specific organizations. In April 2024, the Duchess participated in the “Love Like a Mother” campaign alongside friends and former colleagues to raise awareness and funds for the Alliance of Moms.
Moms Offering More continues to operate across North America, focusing on wrap-around services for families facing economic barriers. While the sweatshirt launch has drawn attention for its rapid sell-out, the organization remains focused on its long-term objective of providing practical aid to caregivers who are often managing multiple stressors, including food insecurity and childcare gaps.
