Renowned makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench has reportedly stepped away from ISAMAYA Beauty, the cosmetics company she founded in 2022. The departure, first reported by The Business of Beauty, was later confirmed by Ffrench through social media statements.
Ffrench, known for her avant-garde work and collaborations with fashion houses like Burberry and Byredo, confirmed she is no longer linked to the label. In a response to a customer inquiry on Instagram regarding service issues, Ffrench stated, “I am afraid I am not associated with the company anymore and have not been for some time.”

A Legacy of Experimental Beauty
Launched in 2022 in partnership with the Italian beauty incubator Flash Beauty Holdings, ISAMAYA Beauty established itself by rejecting traditional beauty standards in favor of provocative imagery and unconventional product designs.
Key highlights of the brand’s creative journey include:
- The Industrial Collection: Inspired by BDSM aesthetics and industrial materials.
- The LIPS Collection: Featuring chrome phallus-shaped lipstick packaging designed as collectible art.
- The Core Collection: Launched in early 2025, this range pivoted toward wearable, skin-focused products distributed through Sephora, Space NK, and Mecca.
Speculation Surrounding Brand Future
Ffrench’s exit has led to questions regarding the stability of ISAMAYA Beauty. While no official shutdown has been announced, several factors have fueled rumors of potential liquidation or restructuring:
Customer Service and Operational Concerns
Recent reports and social media comments from customers have highlighted significant issues with direct-to-consumer operations, including shipping delays, refund difficulties, and a lack of response from customer service. Such issues often suggest internal instability within a company.
Pricing and Market Presence
Observers have noted that the brand’s official website has recently featured discounts of up to 70%. Additionally, periods of inactivity on the brand’s Instagram have led some industry analysts to question if the label is clearing stock ahead of a permanent closure or a rebranding.
What is Next for Isamaya Ffrench?
While the future of the cosmetics label remains uncertain, Ffrench is moving into new creative areas. She has recently been linked to Studio Iron, a curatorial platform for contemporary art, design, and sculpture. This project, which has showcased work at Saatchi Yates in London, marks a shift toward interdisciplinary creative direction.
Ffrench has also expressed interest in exploring beauty standards through film, with reports indicating she is working on a documentary project for 2026.
“The support that I have received during what has been an incredibly difficult and emotional time has meant more to me than I can express… I intend to [address the situation publicly] in due course.” – Isamaya Ffrench, Instagram Statement
