Actor Brian Austin Green has addressed his absence from the Dancing With the Stars ballroom during his fiancée Sharna Burgess’ return for season 35. The 53-year-old actor, a vocal supporter of Burgess, explained that stricter production policies regarding children have made it difficult for him to attend tapings in person.
Green, who shares 4-year-old son Zane with Burgess, noted that the studio environment is no longer as accommodating for young family members. “I was there a lot in the beginning,” Green said while promoting his appearance on Fox’s Celebrity Name That Tune. “Production has cracked down a little bit on young kids being there.”
Balancing Family and Professional Schedules
Beyond studio rules, Green manages a busy household that includes his three children with ex-wife Megan Fox-Noah, Bodhi, and Journey-alongside his life with Burgess. Coordinating these parental duties with the demanding Dancing With the Stars filming schedule requires significant planning.
“I can’t be there with Zane and the kids. We have to find a time that works where they can be home with someone so I can go,” Green explained. He emphasized that his physical absence does not reflect a lack of support, adding, “I’m always there, whether I’m sitting in the audience or at home watching. I’m always rooting for Sharna.”
Adjusting to the DWTS Grind
Burgess, 41, returned to the professional lineup this season after a five-year hiatus, partnering with The Bachelorette alum Tyler Cameron. Green acknowledged that the transition back to the intense DWTS schedule has required an adjustment for their family dynamic.
“The Dancing With the Stars schedule is packed. It’s not the time I’m used to having with her,” Green noted. “We are learning the trade-off of that.”
Despite these challenges, Green remains supportive of Burgess’ career, including her plans to join the DWTS tour in early 2025. He is happy to “hold down the fort” at home, viewing the temporary separation as a necessary part of their partnership.
Public Commentary and Relationship Dynamics
The couple recently faced public discussion after Green posted on social media about feeling lonely during Burgess’ rehearsal schedule. These comments drew criticism from figures like former DWTS winner Kaitlyn Bristowe, who suggested such sentiments should be handled privately.
Green continues to focus on his own projects, including his recent competition on Celebrity Name That Tune, where he played to raise funds for the Race to Erase MS. As the season progresses, the couple continues to navigate the balance between their professional ambitions and their life as a growing family.
