Sus**cion swept through Ardross Castle in the fifth episode of BBC’s The Celebrity Traitors, resulting in the banishment of mathematician Hannah Fry and a strategic shift in the traitors’ ranks. Facing mounting pressure at the round table, Fry was ousted after receiving votes from the majority of contestants, including her fellow traitors Maya Jama and James Acaster. Following her departure, content creator and boxer King Kenny was officially recruited into the turret to bolster the remaining alliance.
Strategic Tensions and Fry’s Banishment
The 42-year-old mathematician had drawn scrutiny after being recruited as a traitor in earlier episodes. During Thursday’s broadcast, strategic tensions boiled over as fellow traitors Maya Jama and James Acaster sought to protect their own positions by turning on Fry. Receiving votes across the board, Fry accepted her fate at the round table.
"I calculated every conceivable scenario except for the one that actually unfolded… I am a traitor," Fry told her fellow players during her exit.
Reflecting on the outcome in a private confessional, she added: "My fellow traitors had to vote for me. It was so clearly going in that direction. I didn’t choose the traitor life, but oh my goodness me, that was so much fun." Her exit mirrors that of actor Richard E. Grant, who was caught during the series’ opening roundtable.
King Kenny Steps Into the Turret
With the traitors’ numbers dwindling to just two, television host Maya Jama and comedian James Acaster chose to seduce content creator King Kenny, whose real name is Kenny Oghenovo Ojuederie, to take Fry’s place. The 29-year-old YouTuber accepted the invitation to join the ranks.
Upon entering the traitor coven, King Kenny urged his new partners to play a cooperative game, stating: "Guys, just don’t do me dirty. Let’s try playing a clean game where all three of us get to the final." Speaking later to the camera, he expressed optimism about his role shift: "I think being a faithful was fun, but being a traitor is going to be better. The faithful are doomed!"
Rob Beckett Murdered in Face-to-Face Twist
The episode also resolved lingering tension from a deadly game of hide-and-seek in the crypt, which left comedian Rob Beckett as the latest victim of a face-to-face murder. Beckett accepted his exit with humor, joking in a confessional that his death was good news for the faithful since he had no chance of identifying the culprits.
His close friend and fellow comedian Romesh Ranganathan expressed immediate grief over the loss. "I feel like I let Rob Beckett down," Ranganathan said. "Rob is so unthreatening that he’s never going to get banished. I’m sad. It’s not going to be the same without him."
Meanwhile, former EastEnders actor and documentary maker Ross Kemp found himself fighting off accusations of sus**cious behavior, believing the remaining traitors were deliberately drawing attention to him to divert sus**cion away from themselves. The Celebrity Traitors continues on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
