Brazilian actor and singer Arthur Aguiar shared an emotional public tribute on social media following the death of his former co-star and romantic partner, Lua Blanco. Blanco passed away at the age of 39 on Sunday, October 18, after battling cancer during the final months of her life, according to a statement released by her family. Aguiar’s message recalled their final meeting and the closure they found after years of estrangement.

Posting a photograph from their February 2024 reunion on his Instagram stories, Aguiar wrote, “Essa foi a última vez que a gente se viu… Que bom que ainda em vida tivemos a oportunidade de conversarmos e falarmos tudo. Que Deus te receba de braços abertos e conforte o coração de todos os que ficaram.” (That was the last time we saw each other… How good that while still alive we had the opportunity to talk and say everything. May God welcome you with open arms and comfort the hearts of all who stayed.)

A Romance Born on Rebelde

Aguiar and Blanco became household names across Brazil while starring in the television drama Rebelde, broadcast on Record TV from 2011 to 2012. In the series, Blanco played Roberta Messi while Aguiar portrayed Diego Maldonado, forming one of the central romantic couples of the narrative. Their on-screen chemistry translated into a real-life relationship that lasted approximately seven months.

Following their split in April 2012, the two actors experienced an 11-year period of estrangement without speaking to each other. However, the pair reconciled in late 2023 and early 2024, clearing the air over past disagreements.

Clearing the Air and Moving Forward

At the time of their reconciliation, Blanco shared lighthearted details of their reunion with her followers, explaining that they had finally washed their “dirty laundry.” She noted that Aguiar took her to her favorite steakhouse in November 2023, and they spoke naturally as if no time had passed at all.

“It was like waking up from a dream, and it was even better because it seemed like a mist cleared and I could see how handsome and God-fearing he is,” Blanco wrote following their meeting.

Family Announcement and Tributes

Lua Blanco’s passing was officially announced by her family through a joint statement signed by her siblings-Daniel, Ana Terra, Estrela, Sol, and Pedro Blanco. The family shared that the artist spent her final months surrounded by the love of family and lifelong friends.

“She left in peace, filled with love and with the full faith that she was going straight into the hands of God. She will be with us forever, illuminating us with her strong eternal light,” the siblings stated, asking for privacy and respect for their mourning process.

Beyond her iconic role in Rebelde and the spin-off band Rebeldes, Blanco built a versatile career in Brazilian entertainment. Her credits spanned across Rede Globo productions including Malhação, Três Irmãs, and Glória Perez’s 2017 telenovela A Força do Querer, alongside work as a presenter on TV Globinho and participation in reality formats like Popstar.
