Actor Maurice Benard celebrated a major family milestone by officiating the wedding of his daughter, Cassidy Benard, to Anthony Cammarata at his home in California. The General Hospital star, widely known for his longtime role as Sonny Corinthos, shared a deeply emotional inside look at the ceremony on Instagram. The post captured a joyful celebration surrounded by close family members, including his wife, Paula, and their grandchildren.
A Proud Father at the Altar
Leading up to the big day, Benard admitted he felt nervous about keeping his composure. Speaking candidly to his followers, the Daytime Emmy winner shared that his anxiety stemmed from a heavy father-of-the-bride moment rather than the mechanics of officiating. True to his predictions, the ceremony brought plenty of heartfelt tears.
Set to Peter Gabriel’s “The Book of Love,” the wedding video captured Cassidy walking down the aisle in a stunning gown complete with a veil and tiara, while groom Anthony wore a sharp green suit. Benard’s wife, Paula, and the flower girls complemented the aesthetic in elegant purple dresses.
"My baby girl is married to her Prince charming. My speech may have not been perfect, but it was from the heart," Benard captioned his Instagram post. "There’s nothing I would’ve done differently. You can always feel weddings with love in the room."
A Touch of Humor and Family Collaboration
The ceremony included several lighthearted moments. As Benard reached the final pronouncement, Cassidy playfully interrupted him to make a quick note. The actor quipped, "No, that's after, baby," before adding with a laugh, "She wants to kiss him really bad, I guess." After the rings were delivered by an adorable ring bearer, Benard officially pronounced the couple husband and wife.

The wedding marks the next chapter for Cassidy and Anthony, who became engaged in April 2024. Anthony proposed during a romantic trip to Japan, surprising Cassidy with a magical moment at Disneyland. Benard marveled at the couple’s connection at the time, calling their romance a true fairytale and noting that the two are "two peas in a pod."
This is not the first time Benard has officiated a child’s wedding. The actor previously officiated the wedding of his oldest daughter, Cailey, and her husband, Carlos, in June 2020.
