An Air India flight traveling from Frankfurt to Delhi diverted to Jaipur on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, following a security alert involving a possible hijack signal. Authorities moved the aircraft for comprehensive checks after the c**kpit activated the internationally recognized Squawk 7500 transponder code.

Flight AI-2030, a Boeing 787-9 carrying 293 passengers and 13 crew members, was approaching Indian airspace when Ahmedabad Air Traffic Control (ATC) received an emergency signal from the aircraft for a brief duration. The pilot transmitted Squawk 7500-a code used worldwide to discreetly indicate unlawful interference or a hijacking-prompting an immediate emergency response from aviation authorities.

Emergency Response and Security Protocols at Jaipur Airport

At approximately 9:10 am, decision-makers at the Delhi airport war room coordinated the diversion to Jaipur International Airport as a strict safety precaution. The aircraft landed safely at 9:35 am and was e****ted to a designated isolation bay by 9:45 am.

Personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), local police, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), and bomb detection and disposal teams rushed to the site. Both pilots de-boarded in accordance with standard security protocols, while the National Security Guard (NSG) team in Delhi remained on standby.

Passengers and their luggage underwent secondary screening procedures. All travelers were safely evacuated and transferred to a designated holding area within the airport terminal building. Airport management and local law enforcement confirmed that there was no immediate danger or panic.

Investigation into the Squawk 7500 Signal

Preliminary investigations indicate that the alert may have been transmitted by mistake due to a technical glitch or human error in the c**kpit. Airport sources noted that the incident stemmed from a communication anomaly rather than an actual malicious hijacking attempt.

Following a thorough inspection of the Boeing 787-9 aircraft, security agencies cleared the plane. Passengers reboarded the flight to resume their journey to New Delhi later in the day. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and other relevant authorities continue to probe the exact circumstances that triggered the emergency transponder code.
