Avatar: Seven Havens Gets 4 Seasons & New Kuruk Series

October 9, 2026 2 min read 0 comments

Avatar Studios has expanded the Avatar: The Last Airbender animated universe with a major double announcement. At a panel at New York Comic Con on October 9, 2026, creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino revealed that Avatar: Seven Havens has been renewed for Books 3 and 4, securing a four-season run. They also announced an entirely new animated series centered on Avatar Kuruk.

The announcements coincided with the streaming debut of Avatar: Seven Havens on Paramount+. The sequel series explores a shattered world following the era of Avatar Korra. It initially mapped out a two-season rollout of 26 episodes. However, the early renewal for Books 3 and 4 provides long-term stability for the project. The show follows an orphan earthbender named Pavi and her long-lost twin sister, Nisha.

Expanding the Timeline With Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos

The studio also introduced Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos. Produced by Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studios, the new animated project takes the universe into action-comedy territory. It examines an earlier, more turbulent era.

According to the official synopsis, the series follows a rebellious teenage Avatar who breaks thousands of years of tradition. Instead of following conventional training paths, Kuruk chooses to master the four elements through globetrotting adventures. He stays one step ahead of an angry teacher, rowdy pirates, and chaotic spirits while helping the world in his own unique ways.

Series co-creator Bryan Konietzko will serve as showrunner for Wave of Chaos. Panel attendees saw early key visuals showcasing a younger Kuruk alongside his animal companion, Nikik. Paramount+ has not yet announced a formal release date for the Kuruk series.

Release Schedule and Franchise Growth

The release strategy for Avatar: Seven Havens unfolds weekly on Paramount+. The first three episodes of Book 1 premiered on October 9, 2026. Subsequent batches roll out every Friday through October 30:

  • Episodes 1-3: October 9, 2026
  • Episodes 4-6: October 16, 2026
  • Episodes 7-9: October 23, 2026
  • Episodes 10-13: October 30, 2026

Details regarding the timeline for Books 2, 3, and 4 remain under wraps. However, the expanded slate highlights Paramount and Avatar Studios’ aggressive strategy to keep the franchise flourishing across multiple platforms, comics, and multimedia extensions.
