The BBC soap opera EastEnders paid a touching tribute to long-serving television director and producer Michael Owen Morris. The tribute aired at the end of its broadcast on September 28, 2026, following his death earlier in the year at the age of 79.

Michael Owen Morris is one of the most prolific directors in the history of EastEnders. He joined the production team in 2003 and regularly directed episodes across two decades until 2019. Throughout his tenure on Albert Square, Morris worked alongside nine different executive producers. These included Louise Berridge, Kate Harwood, Diederick Santer, Bryan Kirkwood, Lorraine Newman, Dominic Treadwell-Collins, Sean O’Connor, John Yorke, and Kate Oates.
His early work on the show included directing the episode where undercover officer Kate Morton moved in with Phil Mitchell. Beyond standard episodes, Morris produced several installments. He also helmed the 2004 spin-off special Pat & Mo, which explored the youthful backstories of Pat Evans (played by Pat St. Clement) and Mo Harris (played by Laila Morse).
