Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. have officially released “Where Is Gone?”, a striking new collaboration with Spanish superstar Rosalía that brings her distinctive vocals together with frontman Grian Chatten. Released on October 12, 2026, the track marks a historic milestone for the group as the very first time they have featured an outside collaborator on a recorded song.
Produced by James Ford, “Where Is Gone?” serves as the third single from the band’s fifth studio album, Dopamine Chamber. The album is scheduled for release on October 16 via XL Recordings. It follows a string of acclaimed records from the Dublin group, including Dogrel (2019), A Hero’s Death (2020), Skinty Fia (2022), and their 2024 Mercury-nominated release, Romance.
The Inspiration Behind the Collaboration
The partnership holds deep personal significance for Fontaines D.C. guitarist Carlos O’Connell, who grew up between Spanish and Irish cultures in Madrid. Speaking with media outlets, O’Connell explained how Rosalía’s dedication to modernizing traditional music helped inspire the cross-genre project.
“I’ve been a fan of Rosalía since her debut album, which was absolutely beautiful,” O’Connell shared in a press statement. “What really excited me was how she was keeping a Spanish tradition of music alive, which in a spiritual way felt akin to what we’ve tried to do with Irish music. For someone with roots in both countries, it’s been beautiful to see.”
O’Connell added that Rosalía’s cultural impact in Spain mirrors the path Fontaines D.C. forged for Irish alternative music. Both acts opened international floodgates for traditional storytelling within a contemporary framework.

Ahead of its October 16 drop, Fontaines D.C. unveiled the eleven-track tracklist for Dopamine Chamber. The record leans into darker, more synthetic territories compared to its predecessor. Frontman Grian Chatten described the project as a deliberate sensory experiment.
