Kelly Osbourne Explains Permanent UK Move After Ozzy’s Death

Kelly Osbourne has officially returned to the United Kingdom on a permanent basis. She is seeking a more grounded upbringing for her young son and a sense of healing following the death of her legendary father, Ozzy Osbourne. In an interview published by The Lion and Hello! magazine, the 41-year-old television personality opened up about turning the page on her nearly three-decade stint in Los Angeles.

The transatlantic relocation comes during a period of profound transition for Osbourne. She split from her former fiancé, Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson, earlier in the year. Speaking from her newly established home in the Buckinghamshire countryside, Osbourne admitted that despite spending most of her adult life in America, she never truly felt like a Californian.

“Being home in the UK has changed a lot for me,” Osbourne shared. “I’ve never been a California girl. It’s been great to be home, and making a life for me and my son where I can see he’s truly happy.”

Protecting Her Son and Escaping US School Shooting Fears

At the heart of Osbourne’s decision to move back to Britain is the safety and well-being of her three-year-old son, Sidney. Among the primary factors driving her departure from the United States was the alarming rise of gun violence and active-shooter drills in American educational institutions.

Osbourne expressed deep concern over the realities facing modern parents in the US. She stated bluntly that she refused to subject her child to such fears.

“I don’t ever want to have to explain to my son what to do during a gun raid,” Osbourne explained. “That’s the realistic thing that you have to do in schools in America, and to me, that’s insanity.”

Instead, Sidney is experiencing a traditional and personal start to his education. He is enrolled in the exact same Buckinghamshire pre-school that Osbourne attended as a young child. In a heartwarming twist of continuity, Osbourne’s childhood best friend-whom she met on her very first day at the school-enrolls her own child there as well, allowing the next generation to carry on the friendship.

Navigating Grief Following Ozzy Osbourne’s Passing

The relocation also marks a significant step forward as Osbourne continues to process the devastating loss of her father. The iconic Black Sabbath frontman, Ozzy Osbourne, passed away on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76, just weeks after performing a historic farewell concert in his native Birmingham.

Describing the aftermath of her father’s death, Kelly revealed that the past year has been unquestionably the hardest of her life. She noted that the loss fundamentally altered her identity and worldview.

“I’ll never be the person I was before my father died… a part of me died, too. Everything is different. I’m different. Everything has changed, but it’s just taking it one day at a time and putting the pieces back together in a way that you think will work,” Osbourne said.

She also shared intimate details regarding how the family handled Ozzy’s final moments. They chose to bring him straight home rather than placing him in a morgue immediately, allowing family members several days to mourn privately and ensure everything was done according to his wishes.

Addressing Body Scrutiny and Focusing on the Future

During her intense period of mourning, Osbourne faced public scrutiny regarding her physical appearance after photographs emerged from the BRIT Awards in March, showcasing significant weight loss. Addressing the body-shaming head-on, Osbourne admitted she was simply unwell and struggling to cope with overwhelming grief.

“I didn’t navigate it-I wasn’t well. How can you navigate something so cruel when you’re so sick? I’m getting a lot better. I’ve got all the help I need and I’m grateful for the support I have in my life,” she said.

With her home in the UK slowly coming together amid half-unpacked moving boxes, Osbourne is looking toward the future. Alongside focusing on her role as a mother, she is preparing for upcoming television projects and working to establish her personal routines in the English countryside.

Reflecting on her current state of mind and the monumental changes in her life, Osbourne offered a grounded perspective: “Happy is not the word, but I’m where I’m meant to be.”
