Klitschko Seeks Court Help to Recover Panettiere Possessions

October 9, 2026 3 min read 0 comments

Wladimir Klitschko is asking a Los Angeles County probate court to help recover Hayden Panettiere’s possessions. He alleges that someone outside her family sold items, including jewelry, to a pawn shop. The new court filing supplements an earlier petition seeking temporary guardianship of his and Panettiere’s 11-year-old daughter, Kaya Klitschko.

The legal action focuses on protecting the inheritance of Kaya. The former couple welcomed her in 2014, and she is identified as her mother’s sole heir. According to court documents, the pawn shop has declined to disclose specific item information without being contacted by law enforcement. This raises concerns that the property could become impossible to recover.

The Pawn Shop Claim and Court Request

According to documents obtained by media outlets, Klitschko believes a non-family member previously associated with Panettiere sold items belonging to the late actress. The filing warns that remaining items could be transferred or sold before anyone acting on behalf of the estate can secure them.

The available reporting notes that the claim does not establish a complete inventory, the financial value of the possessions, or whether any transaction was authorized. No formal response from the pawn shop or the individual described in the filing has been identified in the current legal reporting.

Why Klitschko Is Pursuing Financial Guardianship

Klitschko already holds custody of Kaya. However, his legal applications focus on acquiring authority over her financial interests and expected inheritance. His initial petition, filed on September 24, requested that a Los Angeles County court appoint him temporarily to represent Kaya while her mother’s estate is secured.

In the latest filing, Klitschko points out that no personal representative has yet been formally appointed for Panettiere’s estate. He argues this absence creates a critical gap in legal authority to pursue missing property to his daughter’s financial detriment.

California Estate Guardianship

California legal standards clearly distinguish between the guardianship of a child’s person and the guardianship of their estate. Estate guardianship involves managing assets and property. This step is frequently required when a minor stands to receive an inheritance. This role carries strict legal obligations to preserve and protect the child’s assets under court supervision.

Earlier Filings Raised Concerns Over Missing Assets

Panettiere, widely known for her roles in television series such as Heroes and Nashville, passed away on August 16 at the age of 36. Klitschko’s initial emergency application highlighted immediate concerns regarding valuable items, access to her Los Angeles residence, and property currently held by federal investigators.

The initial petition noted that private security had been hired prior to her death following concerns regarding unauthorized access. Klitschko argued at the time that possessions risked being lost or damaged while the lengthy process of appointing a permanent estate representative moved forward through the court system.

The new pawn-shop allegation adds a significant recovery challenge to these ongoing efforts to preserve the estate. Klitschko is specifically asking the court for the authority to involve law enforcement agencies in investigating the alleged sales. Legal experts emphasize that the filing does not mean police have formally confirmed a criminal act.

As the legal proceedings continue in Los Angeles County, the immediate priority for Kaya remains identifying, tracking, and securing her mother’s remaining possessions before they pass permanently beyond the estate’s reach.
