Marvel Television surprised attendees at New York Comic Con 2026 by screening the first episode of the upcoming Disney+ series, VisionQuest. The exclusive screening happened ahead of the official streaming premiere on October 14, giving fans an early look at the next chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Key members of the cast and creative team took the stage after the screening. Paul Bettany, who reprises his role as the synthetic hero, appeared alongside returning star James Spader, cast members Ruaridh Mollica and Emily Hampshire, and showrunner Terry Matalas. The panel gave fans deep insights into the series, which follows Vision’s journey of self-discovery after the events of WandaVision.
Inside the Plot of VisionQuest
Marvel states that VisionQuest begins as Vision tries to piece together his restored memories and build an independent identity. A high-stakes bounty suddenly upends his secluded life. This danger forces him to run alongside Thomas Shepard, a mysterious teenager connected to his past family lineage.
Showrunner Terry Matalas explained that the series explores philosophical questions about humanity, family dynamics, and artificial intelligence. The show focuses on emotional stakes and existential themes rather than a standard action narrative.
The Return of Ultron and the Digital Mindspace
The official return of Ultron was a major revelation from the panel and the premiere episode. James Spader reprises his role as the rogue artificial intelligence, whose consciousness lingers in Vision’s digital Mindspace.
The adversarial relationship between Vision and his creator drives the core narrative. Fans will see psychological showdowns in the digital realm as Vision confronts Ultron to forge his own future.
