New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. played just six snaps and registered no receptions during a 12-0 victory over the Tennessee Titans at MetLife Stadium. Despite fans chanting his name and prior coaching staff indications that his workload would increase, the veteran wideout remained a minimal factor in the team’s offensive game plan.
Spectators began chanting “OBJ! OBJ!” early in the fourth quarter when Beckham entered the field for his fifth snap of the game. On that play, quarterback Jameis Winston threw a 3-yard pass to tight end Isaiah Likely. Beckham remained on the field for a second consecutive snap, running a shallow cross, but Winston was sacked before attempting a pass.
Limited Involvement Raises Questions
Beckham was targeted once during the first quarter, but Tennessee Titans safety Amani Hooker nearly intercepted the pass, leaving it incomplete. Earlier in that same quarter, Winston opted for a short pass to Likely despite Beckham running open along the left sideline.
Prior to the matchup, Giants offensive coordinator Matt Nagy addressed Beckham’s integration into the offense.
“We’re trying to probably slowly package him in some things offensively,” Nagy told reporters. “It’s not that he’s just a backup. There are some times when, whatever it is personnel-wise, that we have it on the game plan, we just didn’t get to it. Or, ‘Hey, you’ve got to be ready. One injury away from being in all the time.’ And he knows that.”
Looking Ahead in New York
Beckham returned to the Giants this offseason on a one-year contract after sitting out the 2025 season to recover from injuries. However, through the early stretch of the season, he has found himself buried behind a wide receiver corps featuring Malik Nabers, Darnell Mooney, and Malachi Fields.
While head coach John Harbaugh and his staff previously hinted that a game against the Titans would present an ideal opportunity to expand Beckham’s role, the execution on the field has yielded only 14 total offensive snaps and a single target across multiple contests. As the Giants navigate a shifting offensive landscape, the veteran wide receiver continues to search for meaningful opportunities to make an impact.
